Everton defender Sylvain Distin believes manager Roberto Martinez does not need to make any more signings this summer.

O'Farrell: America awaits

Martinez has brought in four players - striker Arouna Kone, defender Antolin Alcaraz, goalkeeper Joel Robles and winger Gerard Deulofeu - since taking charge at Goodison Park in early June.

Kone was a £6 million buy from Wigan, Alcaraz arrived on a free transfer after his Latics contract expired, Joel came in from Atletico Madrid for around £2 million and Deulofeu is on a season-long loan from Barcelona.

Distin believes Everton, who have arrived in San Francisco to start a pre-season tour of the United States, have a strong enough squad with those signings.

The 35-year-old told the Sun: “The competition is there because it is a much bigger squad now, and we do not need any more players.

“The new guys have felt at home from the very first day. It is really easy to settle down in a team like Everton because we’re a good group of guys who welcome anyone, without a problem.”
