Paris Saint-Germain striker Kevin Gameiro is expected to complete a move to Sevilla on Wednesday.
The France international, 26, left PSG’s base in Sweden on Tuesday afternoon in order to travel to Spain to finalise the transfer. If he passes a medical, Gameiro is set to sign a five-year deal that could earn the French champions around €8 million, Le Parisien reports.
Gameiro, who joined PSG from Lorient in 2011, was handed his international debut by then France coach Laurent Blanc. After watching his side beat Swedish team Hammarby 2-0 in a friendly on Tuesday evening, Blanc — now the PSG manager — confirmed that Gameiro would be leaving.
“I’ve liked Kevin for a long time but it’s his choice,” he told reporters. “His choice is acceptable to the club. I wish him good luck.”
Gameiro’s contract at PSG was due to run until 2015. Le Parisien says that he made the decision to leave after the club bought Napoli striker Edinson Cavani for €64 million.
Sevilla have been seeking a replacement for Alvaro Negredo, who joined Manchester City last week.
