The defending Bundesliga champions were quick to assert their dominance in the final with Franck Ribery and Philipp Lahm hitting the back of the net before summer signing Thiago Alcantara scored his first goal in a Bayern shirt.

Monchengladbach managed to pull one back just before half-time through Luuk de Jong, but further strikes to Arjen Robben and Thomas Muller completed the rout.

Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund claimed third place in the competition after defeating Hamburg 1-0.

Last season’s Champions League finalists secured the victory, and their fifth win of this pre-season, through Jonas Hofmann’s first-half strike.
