Jose Mourinho: Rooney my only target
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has said in the Guardian there is "no chance" Juan Mata or David Luiz will be sold this summer.
It has been speculated that Mourinho is open to selling Mata and Luiz during the current transfer window, despite the pair impressing for the club last season.
Reports even suggested this week that Chelsea had offered £10 million plus either of the aforementioned pair for Manchester United's Wayne Rooney - although the claims were swiftly rejected by the Blues.
Mourinho has now gone on record declaring they are in his plans ahead of the 2013-14 season, as he prepares to work with them once they return from their extended leave following the Confederations Cup.
"I spoke with them during the summer, in my period of holiday and their period of the Confederations Cup, yes," Mourinho said in the Guardian. "But when they finished the Confederations Cup I just wished them luck and told them that I will see them on the 28th.
"I am not going to contact them based on news that are not true, and that they know that is not true because I have told them they are very important for me. How can I change that two days later because of a news [story]? So no, no contact with them."
Asked whether either player might be sold this summer, Mourinho had replied: "No chance, no chance."
Luiz, who has been linked with Barcelona, is quoted in the Brazilian newspaper O Globo, as saying: "I do not like the rumours about me and the possible departure. I have a contract with Chelsea until June 2017 and do not want to talk to other clubs."
