Sunderland land Giaccherini coup

Sunderland have completed the signing of midfielder Emanuele Giaccherini from Juventus for €7.5 million.

Giaccherini, 28, has agreed a four-year contract with Paolo Di Canio's side, as the former Swindon coach plans for the 2013-14 season.

The Italy international has been capped 14 times by his country, starting two matches at Euro 2012 and playing in all of Italy's games at the Confederations Cup.

The versatile midfielder has also enjoyed success at club level having lifted two Serie A titles with Juve.

Giaccherini joined Juventus from Cesena in 2011 and went on to score four goals in 40 league appearances for the Serie A side.
