David Moyes has hinted that Federico Macheda and Bebe do not have a future at Manchester United after opting not to take either on their pre-season tour of Asia and Australia.

Injured wingers Nani and Ashley Young are missing, Wayne Rooney has flown home and Robin van Persie and Javier Hernandez have not joined the tour yet but Moyes still decided not to include either forward in his squad.

Bebe, the £7.6 million buy who Sir Alex Ferguson admitted he had not seen before signing him, has not appeared for United in a competitive game since February 2011.

The 22-year-old has spent much of the last two seasons out on loan at first Besiktas and then Rio Ave in his native Portugal.

Macheda, 21, made a dramatic start to his United career by scoring an injury-time winner on his debut against Aston Villa in 2009 and scored another decider against Sunderland in his second match.

But the Italian has only managed three goals for the club since and has had unsuccessful loan spells at Sampdoria, QPR and Stuttgart.

And Moyes suggested both players’ future lie elsewhere, saying at a press conference in Thailand: "At the moment, we’re looking to change one or two things around. I just need a bit of time.

"I’ve chosen not to bring them on the tour. I felt as if I wanted to give some other players an opportunity so I've left them behind."

Meanwhile, Young has been given a six-month driving ban and was fined £1,000 after being stopped going 55mph in a 30mph zone in January.
