Dortmund sign Aubameyang
Klopp focused on Dortmund
Borussia Dortmund have completed the signing of striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Saint-Etienne on a five-year contract.
Aubameyang, who scored 19 goals and made 14 assists in Ligue 1 last season, was spotted in Dortmund this week as the Champions League runners-up finalised a contract for the Gabon international.
Sporting Director Michael Zorc revealed discussions were at an advanced stage when he told Ruhrnachrichten: "The Borussia [talks are] very far [along] with Aubameyang. We are confident that the transfer will be completed quickly. He won't be our last signing this summer."
Once the deal was completed Zorc told the club's official website: "We are very happy that we could sign our desired player in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. He can play various positions in offence, has enormous speed in his actions and is very dangerous in front of the goal."
Former Gabon coach Gernot Rohr says Aubameyang was right to spurn interest from the Premier League in favour of a switch to Germany.
"He is the quickest player I know, much like Oleg Blokhin during my time as player," Rohr said. "He likes to go to the right side, from time to time also over left and he has become very efficient in front of the goal. Aubameyang is better off in Bundesliga than in the EPL. He is a good boy, a nice lad, no show-off."
Joshua Guilavogui, one of Aubameyang's old team-mate at St. Etienne, added: "He is definitely a bling-bling guy, but as a person he is very big-hearted."
Aubameyang finally gained some stability when he joined Saint Etienne in 2010 after being loaned out to Dijon, Lille and Monaco while he was contracted to AC Milan.
