Redmond, 19, has signed a four-year deal at Carrow Road and the move reunites him with former Birmingham manager Chris Hughton, under whom he made his Blues debut in 2010.

He had been widely tipped to leave the financially-troubled Championship club in the summer and was also linked with Swansea and Everton.

Redmond, the Canaries’ third signing of the summer following the arrival of striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel and a permanent move for defender Javier Garrido, told the club’s official website: “I'm very happy. It looks like a fantastic club, and I'm just looking forward to getting started now.

“I know that there is only one football club in this city, and it has an excellent fanbase. The people around the football club and in the city that I have spoken to so far have attracted me to this club so much - it's made me realise just how much it means to the people of this city.”

He praised the influence of Hughton on his career, explaining: “He gave me the chance to play and the chance to express myself every time that I stepped on to the field and I feel like, on the bigger stage, he'll do exactly the same thing.”

Hughton said he was delighted to have secured Redmond’s signature, adding: “Nathan is a young and exciting player that I had the pleasure of working with at Birmingham.

“He's someone we can bring in to the forward areas and primarily has played on either wing in his career so far, but can also play off the front.

“He's very keen to develop his own game - he's one of these lads that likes to be on the training pitch and is usually one of the last ones off the training pitch. I'm sure the move won't faze him.”
