The Blues boss is reported to have spoken to Van Ginkel, 20, to assuage his concerns over the amount of first-team football he might play if he makes the move to Stamford Bridge.

The Netherlands Under-21 international, valued at around £8 million, is now set to discuss his future with Vitesse on Thursday.

Manchester United have also been linked with a move for Van Ginkel, who is under contract until 2015.

Chelsea look set to overhaul their midfield this summer, with John Obi Mikel uncertain over his future and Oriol Romeu linked with a return to La Liga.
