Ter Stegen staying at Monchengladbach
Borussia Monchengladbach have confirmed that goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, linked with a move to Barcelona, will not be leaving in the summer.
Gladbach’s sporting director Max Eberl told kicker Ter Stegen “will play for Monchengladbach next season”, adding: “Both he and his agent have said so - and that’s that.”
Eberl was delighted that the 21-year-old, whose contract expires in 2015, would be staying put. “He’s one of the most talented youngsters on the continent, and it’s only normal that big clubs are interested in securing his services,” he said.
Barcelona are continuing their search for a replacement for Victor Valdes, who announced last season that he would not be signing a new contract to replace his current deal, which expires in 2014.
With Ter Stegen now off the market, Mundo Deportivo suggests the Catalans could turn their attention to QPR’s Julio Cesar, who it says could be available for €3 million.
