Fiorentina are still interested in signing Bayern Munich striker Mario Gomez, according to the Italian club's general manager Sandro Mencucci.
La Viola have been linked with making a move for the Germany international, whose future at Bayern has been the subject of conjecture.
Gomez, 27, still has three years left to run on his current contract, but Mencucci has confirmed Fiorentina are monitoring his situation.
"There is no doubt that Mario Gomez is one of the players we are interested in," he said on eurosport.it.
"I can also tell you that Fiorentina are one of the clubs he is considering should he change clubs."
Should a switch go ahead, former Bayern and Fiorentina forward Luca Toni believes Gomez would be a success at Fiorentina.
"We are talking about a really fantastic player," he told Italy's Lady Radio. "We've got to see how he would adapt to Italian football, but he is a top player.
"I don't know whether they would be able to challenge for the title straight away with him, but they would be getting one of the best strikers in the world."
