In-demand Lille midfielder Dimitri Payet has had "no recent contact" with Roma, where he could be reunited with Rudi Garcia.

Garcia took over as coach at Roma earlier this week and was immediately linked with a number of players from his former club Lille, including Payet.

The former St Etienne man is tipped to leave the Grand Stade this summer along with a clutch of high-profile team-mates, following the northern club’s failure to qualify for European competition under Garcia last season, which has left the 2010-11 Ligue 1 champions in a precarious financial position.

However, Payet's agent, Jacques-Olivier Auguste, told Calciomercato that his client, who is also reportedly high on Marseille's list of priorities, would not necessarily be heading to the Italian capital to team up with his former boss.

“Dimitri had an excellent relationship with Rudi, but there's been no recent contact with the Giallorossi,” he said. “Dimitri's currently on holiday and we haven't talked about a potential move as he still has two years left on his contract at Lille."
