Clement Grenier is set to disappoint clubs hoping to sign him, including Arsenal, by staying at Lyon for another season, his father has claimed.

Grenier, 22, has a year remaining on his Lyon contract and has been linked to a number of sides, with the Gunners reportedly keenest to wrap up a transfer.

The France international midfielder, who made his senior debut for Les Bleus in last weekend's friendly defeat to Uruguay and came on against Brazil on Sunday, said he had informed OL president Jean-Michel Aulas and coach Remi Garde what he planned to do this summer.

And his father, Michel, told TF1: "I think Clement will be at Lyon next season.”

Grenier has become central to Garde's plans, with the OL youth academy product being accommodated in a central role at the expense of Yoann Gourcuff.

Aulas had consistently stressed that he would attempt to keep the player at the seven-time Ligue 1 champions despite the club needing €25 million to balance its books.

"We're talking [about a contract extension], but the position of the club is that no player who has come through the club's youth academy and who has come of age will leave this year," L'Equipe reported Aulas as saying on Saturday.
