Christian Benteke would seriously consider any summer offer from Atletico Madrid for his services, his agent has said.

Atletico, who are in the Champions League, have been linked with a move for Aston Villa top scorer Benteke, 22 - as have Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea.

The Belgian’s agent, Kismet Eris, has said his client wants to play Champions League football next season and is flattered by the Atletico link.

Spanish newspaper AS reported that Eris watched Atletico win the Copa del Rey against Real Madrid alongside Colchoneros sporting director Jose Luis Caminero last weekend.

The paper quoted him as saying: "Benteke always wants to improve. Without a doubt, he wants to play in the Champions League.

“The interest is flattering. At the moment, there is no offer - but, if Atletico put a proposal on the table, of course we would study it.”

Villa boss Lambert appeared on Sky Sports on Thursday to discuss former club Borussia Dortmund prior to the Champions League final.

Dortmund will lose one of their star men, Mario Gotze, to rivals Bayern in the summer, and Lambert said: "It's tough because you have to look after your football club, which is important. No one player should ever be bigger than the club.

"The club's got to be there for years after I've gone from it. So you can't get caught up on keeping one guy. You've got to invest and build a team rather than just individuals all the time.

"Dortmund got €37 million. I guarantee you [Jurgen] Klopp would be hurt initially, but then he'd think: 'OK, I can get one there, one here,' and the team becomes stronger.

"If you keep getting results, the fans will have no problem."
