Sven-Goran Eriksson is in negotiations to take over as the manager of Chinese club Guangzhou R&F, officials there have said.
Eriksson, 65, is currently the technical director of Al Nasr, in Dubai - a role he has held since January - but could be on his way out amid uncertainty over the future of manager Walter Zenga.
And the former England boss, who has also been linked with the Cameroon national team job, has begun talks with Guangzhou.
"Eriksson is one of the candidates," club spokeswoman Chen Jie added. "The club is currently in talks with him. However, it [an appointment] has not been finalised yet."
Guangzhou R&F finished seventh in the China Super League last season and are keen to close the gap on city rivals Guangzhou Evergrande, managed by Marcello Lippi.
