Former AC Milan hard-man Gennaro Gattuso has become the fifth coach this season to be sacked by Swiss club FC Sion.

Gattuso, who joined the club as player at the start of the season, was handed the reins as a player-coach in February after Spaniard Victor Munoz vacated the hotseat.

But a run of 10 points from 11 league matches was deemed not suitable by Sion officials, the World Cup winner sharing the same fate as Munoz, Pierre-Andre Schuerman, Michel Decastel and Sebastien Fournier.

However, Sion under-21 coach Decastel will get a second shot at the top job, announced as Gattuso's replacement by the club.

Despite the upheaval, Sion sit fifth in the Swiss Super league and could still qualify for next season's Europa League.

Last year, the club was at the centre of a legal battle with the continent's governing body, UEFA, after being kicked out of the Europa League for fielding ineligible players.

But Sion lost the battle, were docked 36 points in the league and were only saved from relegation after domestic rivals Neuchatel Xamax fell through the trapdoor due to financial irregularities.
