Socceroos star Tim Cahill is the third highest-paid player in US Major League Soccer, raking in $US3.625 million ($A3.55 million) this season.

Cahill's New York Red Bulls teammate Thierry Henry is the biggest earner for the second straight season, edging Los Angeles Galaxy striker Robbie Keane.

Henry remains No.1 despite a drop in his base salary from $US5 million to $US3.75 million, according to figures released on Monday by the MLS Players Union.

Henry's total pay fell from $US5.6 million to $US4.35 million.

Keane has the highest base salary at $US4 million, an increase from $US2,917,241 last season, and his total rose to $US4,333,333 from $3,417,243 after helping the Galaxy win their second straight MLS title.

Red Bulls midfielder Cahill was third ($US3.5 million base), followed by Galaxy midfielder Landon Donovan ($US2.5 million base and total).

Cahill is in the top 10 in the goal scorers' list for the MLS this season, with three for the first-placed Red Bulls.
