Feyenoord flattened Heracles Almelo 6-0 on Sunday to keep its Dutch Eredivisie title hopes alive.

Graziano Pelle scored twice, the second a penalty after Heracles had had goalkeeper Remko Pasveer sent off a minute before half time, to go with strikes from John Goossens and Lex Immers as the Rotterdammers led 4-0 at the break.

Ruben Schaken made it five before Goossens sealed the six-goal win with his second.

The victory moved Feyenoord level on points with PSV Eindhoven in second, but Ajax, which remains on track for a third straight league title, has a four-point advantage at the top with two games left.

Vitesse Arnhem stayed within two points of Feyenoord with a 3-1 home win over Willem II, which edged the visitors closer to relegation.

Mike Havenaar, Wilfried Bony and Marco van Ginkel put the hosts in control and Genaro Snijders added a consolation for Willem II, which was left four points adrift of the relegation playoff places.

FC Twente enjoyed a 5-2 win at home to NEC Nijmegen.

Goals from Douglas, Luc Castaignos and Nacer Chadli put the hosts three up after 47 minutes, but Nick van der Velden pulled one back.

Rasmus Bengtsson made it 4-1 before late goals from Twente's Felipe Gutierrez and Erik Falkenburg.

Elsewhere, FC Utrecht won 2-1 at PEC Zwolle.

Utrecht went ahead after two minutes through Nana Asare but Joost Broerse levelled.

Elroy Pappot got the winner 10 minutes into the second half.
