Bayer Leverkusen's general manager Wolfgang Holzhauser wants a resolution over Andre Schurrle's future "as soon as possible" amid talk of a transfer to Chelsea.

Chelsea have been strongly linked with a summer move for Schurrle, with reports last week claiming the Blues are edging closer to an agreement for the Germany international.

Holzhauser has, however, said a deal is not yet close, although he stressed the need for the striker to make a decision over where his future lies in good time, so they can bring in a replacement if needed.

"Last year, we had an enquiry, but it came very late," Holzhauser said. "This time, it is still relatively early, which is good.

"Andre is, alongside Mario Gotze, one of the best young players in Germany and if he leaves us, we will want cover for him. We want clarity as soon as possible."

He added to Germany's SID agency: "We are still quite a long way apart in terms of certain details. There are always two options: either Andre stays here or he leaves."
