Jeffrey Bruma will return to Chelsea when his two-year loan at Hamburg ends in the summer, the Netherlands international has told Hamburger Morgenpost.

Bruma lost his place in the Hamburg team following the 9-2 defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich in March. In the aftermath of that crushing defeat the defender was demoted to the reserves, who are struggling in Germany's fourth tier. He scored an own goal in his first game for the reserves and was then sent off for two bookings in the second game.

Earlier this year, Bruma said he hoped to extend his stay at Hamburg and suggested the Bundesliga club wanted him to stay on a permanent basis.

"Frank Arnesen [general manager] has told me that it is not possible. I will leave Hamburg and return to London," Bruma told the newspaper.  "I have learned a lot over the past few years. But now I am looking forward to London and the club [Chelsea]."

German football magazine kicker has reported that Bruma could be loaned to a club in the Netherlands next season.
