Carlo Ancelotti has told Paris Saint-Germain hot-head Jeremy Menez to let his feet do the talking after the French international's latest foul-mouthed outburst.

Menez, 25, was caught by TV cameras calling referee Tony Chapron "a son of a bitch" after being booked for dissent midway through the first half of PSG's 3-0 league win over Nice on Sunday night. A heated exchange then followed between the pair as they headed to the dressing rooms at half-time with Menez remonstrating with Chapron, 40, who told the former Roma midfielder: "Start by using the [French] formal form of 'you', and then we'll see."

Asked in his post-match press conference whether his player's behaviour had irked him, Ancelotti replied: "Yes, a little. He took the risk of getting a red card by speaking with the referee. I don't know what he said to him, but it's not a good thing to speak with the referee because he's doing his job and Jeremy has to do his without talking."

Menez, who scored PSG's opening goal in a victory which leaves them on the brink of the Ligue 1 title, was suspended for one international match by the French Football Federation after swearing at Italian referee Nicola Rizzoli during France's Euro 2012 quarter-final exit to Spain, but had vowed to clean up his act and tarnished image.

"It's true that it's not nice," he told L'Equipe in July. "In a game, a lot of players insult the referee. I'd like to apologise."
