Eric Abidal is eager to sign a new contract with Barcelona but admits there has not been any contact from the club over an extension.
The France defender made his first-team comeback this month after over a year out following liver surgery.
Abidal had been recovering after undergoing a liver transplant last April, having previously had surgery to remove a tumor in March 2011.
The full back's contract runs out in June and, while there have been reports in Spain that Barca may offer him an ambassadorial role, the 33-year-old is keen to continue playing.
"If my health permits I want to continue playing at the club but my contract ends in June," He told Spanish radio station RAC1. "What if they do not call me?
"Someone told me something [about an ambassador's role] but not directly. I know that the president has plans for me. Anyway, only I can decide my future. Time and God will say if I can't go on and if then I have to be an ambassador, I would be happy.
"I would retire at the club but it depends on them, not me."
