Sporting Kansas City are still waiting to hear from Norwich regarding the future of striker Kei Kamara.

Kamara, 28, has impressed since joining the Canaries on loan in January, scoring in the 2-1 win over Everton on February 23.

However, the Sierra Leone international is due to return to the MLS on May 6, meaning he would not be available for the last two games of the season unless a permanent transfer is agreed between the two clubs.

Sporting KC chief manager and technical director Peter Vermes believes Norwich - who have already signed Ricky van Wolfswinkel for £8.5 million from Sporting Lisbon for next season - could be waiting until their Premier League status is confirmed before deciding on whether or not to keep Kamara.

"We are looking into it, but I haven't heard anything yet," Vermes told the MLS club's official website. "We have already negotiated everything. Other than Kei saying he doesn't want to do it, it would pretty much go through.

"They are not really sure where they sit right now and where they are going to go. If they would be a little more secure in their position in the league, I think it would be easier for them to make a deal one way or the other. Right now, I think that is why we're not hearing anything.''

Norwich currently sit 14th in the Premier League table, four points clear of 18th-placed Wigan who have two games in hand on them.
