Fabio Borini’s agent has dismissed suggestions that the Liverpool striker will leave Anfield for Fiorentina in the summer.

Marco De Marchi said Borini, 22, was happy on Merseyside despite enduring a difficult, injury-hit first season following his £10.5 million move from Roma in July.

In early October, the forward was ruled out for three months after breaking a bone in his foot. Having made his comeback, he was sidelined for the rest of the season when he suffered a dislocated shoulder in February’s 5-0 Premier League win over Swansea.

The Italy international has managed one goal in 16 appearances for Liverpool, which came in a 3-0 Europa League qualifying round victory over Belarusian side Gomel in August.

But former Bologna, Juventus and Dundee defender De Marchi said his client had no plans to return to Italy.

“I’ve heard the Fiorentina rumours, but there has been no direct contact,” he told tuttomercatoweb.com.

“Fiorentina are a club on the launchpad. They have laid the groundwork for an important project by signing great players, and results will soon come.

“However, Borini has married the Liverpool project, and they are one of the most important clubs in the world.”
