Dindane, 32, who has been a free agent since leaving Qatari side Al-Sailiya Sport Club in December, impressed during a short stint training with the Championship club and persuaded manager Ian Holloway to make the move.

The Palace boss says he is delighted with the capture of a player who has represented Ivory Coast on 67 occasions and is hopeful he can get back to his best during his time at Selhurst Park.

“Aruna has been training with us and we have seen what was needed to get him up to our level of fitness, so very quietly behind the scenes we have been working with him to get him to the condition that we want. I am hoping he returns to what I have seen him play like before," Holloway told the club's official website.

“He has been working hard to reach those levels and if he can do that he might add something to the group that could help us in the weeks to come. He’s very strong and a goalscorer and I know what he can bring to us if he is in the right condition.

“I would like to thank the chairman for giving me the chance to bring him in and we will see what he can do for us.”

Dindane was on loan at Portsmouth during the 2009-10 season and scored ten goals in 24 Premier League games, while also helping guide Pompey to the FA Cup final.

Palace currently sit fourth in the Championship, three points off an automatic promotion spot, and take on Birmingham on Friday.
