Glory lose Dodd for A-League season

March 25, 2013

Perth Glory midfielder Travis Dodd will miss the rest of the A-League season after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.

Dodd will consider undergoing a LARS procedure to speed up his recovery time, but the 33-year-old won't appear again this season.

The former Adelaide skipper has been a key figure for the Glory this season, and scored his fifth goal of the campaign in Saturday's 3-2 win over Melbourne Victory.

Perth could also be without striker Shane Smeltz and attacking midfielder Chris Harold in Saturday night's crunch clash with Adelaide at nib Stadium, while Liam Miller will definitely miss the match through suspension.

Smeltz required 15 stitches to his face after copping an errant boot while playing for New Zealand last week.

Harold will have scans on a calf injury.

Perth will welcome back skipper Jacob Burns from suspension and defender Michael Thwaite from international duties.

The Glory will book their spot in the finals with victory over Adelaide, while a draw might just be enough depending on other results.
