Andros Townsend insists Queens Park Rangers' squad still believe they can stay up, despite going seven points off safety with just eight games left.

Harry Redknapp's side lost 3-2 away to Aston Villa on Saturday, in what was billed as a typical relegation six-pointer.

And, despite actually squandering the lead in that game and falling further behind in the table, Townsend feels QPR can still come back.

"It's not over yet," he said. "We've got eight games left and have got to play our other relegation rivals. It's all to play for, still.

"After Fulham, we've got Wigan - another six-pointer. We've just got to keep going, persevering and hopefully can pull through.

"It [the Villa defeat] was a setback, but we're not giving up. Everyone's hurting, disappointed. We feel like it was an opportunity missed. Considering the way we started the game, it was a disappointing result. We should have been one or two-nil up in the first 10 minutes."
