Stand-in Netherlands skipper Dirk Kuyt has said Wesley Sneijder is the team's "undisputed captain" as he returns to the squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Estonia and Romania.

Galatasary midfielder Sneijder is back in the picture after a six-month absence.

He moved to Turkey in the January transfer window after a dispute with his previous club Inter Milan, having spent months out of the Inter team because of injuries and that dispute, but has been in good form since his arrival at Gala.

Kuyt, who along with Kevin Strootman has taken over leadership responsibilities in his absence, told Goal.com: "Sneijder is our undisputed captain.

"I'm deputy skipper and Kevin Strootman is the third man in line. Wesley has not been part of the team for a while, but he's back again now.

"Everybody can expect Wes to be wearing the armband in the months to come. The captain always plays, unless he's injured."

He said Sneijder was "a great player and personifies Dutch football" and added: "We don't even have to discuss his football qualities.

"He's very valuable for the team both on and off the pitch. He's a real leader with a lot of experience."
