Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben has labelled Ottmar Hitzfeld's recent comments suggesting that he had no future at the club as "ridiculous".

At the weekend, former Bayern boss Hitzfeld told Swiss paper Blick that he doubted whether the injury-prone player had much longer left at the Bundesliga club once Pep Guardiola takes over at the end of the season.

"I reckon Robben will leave Bayern in the summer," he said.

Robben, however, hit back at Hitzfeld's claims in a Bild interview, saying that he did not believe the coach would know anything about Bayern's plans for next season.

"It is just ridiculous what has been said," Robben said. "Those people are not in the club, don't know anything about the planning. I have another two years on my contract. A new period will begin next season. I am looking forward to it."

Earlier this week, Bayern president Uli Hoeness had lashed out at Hitzfeld and backed his player.

"He's had a good season and will play an important role here," Hoeness said, before adding: "If he stays fit."

Robben has struggled with injuries this season, limiting him to just 11 Bundesliga appearances.
