The Japan international, who was borrowed from Arsenal on a year-long loan, was hurt in Wigan's FA Cup quarter-final win over Everton.
And while he will not feature again for Wigan, manager Roberto Martinez has praised the 20-year-old for the attitude he has shown during his time at the DW Stadium.
He told Wigan's official website: "It's a real shame that Ryo has suffered this injury after working so hard to regain his fitness following a setback earlier in the season.
"His professionalism and work ethic on a daily basis have always been superb and we'll do everything we can to help him make a speedy recovery."
Miyaichi only made seven appearances for Wigan, with just one start, in an injury-hit year.
