Galatasaray progressed to the quarter-finals of the competition after a stoppage time Umut Bulut goal settled a pulsating 3-2 victory on German soil.
The two sides could not be split in a 1-1 draw in the first leg.
A jubilant Terim said his players deserved a hero's welcome when they returned home after recording the remarkable victory.
"I kiss all my players on the forehead. We should have scored even more during the first half, they were extraordinary," Terim told NTVSpor. "That's an important victory for the country, we are in the last eight in Europe."
"Sometimes you play good, sometimes bad. Galatasaray did it by our own effort.
"I wanted all the players to do marking and they've proved it, this was the difference."
