Highlights: AS Roma 3-1 Genoa
Roma captain Francesco Totti has hailed his historic 225th Serie A goal as a sign of his "love for the Roma jersey".
Totti scored his side's first goal from then penalty spot in the 3-1 defeat of Genoa and, in the process, joined former AC Milan forward Gunnar Nordahl as the league's second highest scorer of all time.
Leading the way on 274 goals is former Lazio, Torino, Juventus and Novara striker Silvio Piola.
But on Sunday, history belonged to Totti, and more importantly for the 36-year-old, the record books were re-written in front of his adoring fans.
"I wanted this goal at all costs and I managed to get it in front of my people," Totti told Sky Sport Italia at half-time.
"I am happy with this important achievement, which is a sign of my love for the Roma jersey.
"Now personal satisfaction must be set aside, because there are another difficult 45 minutes ahead of us. We must react and be a team to bring home the victory."
The victory moved Roma to seventh spot on the table.
