Borussia Dortmund director of sport Michael Zorc has confirmed Robert Lewandowski will be leaving the club within the next 18 months after turning down a new contract.
The Poland international has been heavily linked with a move to Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich and his current deal is set to expire in 2014.
The player’s agent, who recently hinted in the Polish media that Lewandowski would move on, has informed Zorc that the player will not sign a new deal.
“Either he goes in June or he stays another year,” Zorc said. “We will have to see if he is going to be on the move in the summer.”
There have been claims that Lewandowski has already agreed the switch to Bayern, but Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp does not believe there is anything in place.
“Nothing is decided,” Klopp said. “I don’t know what the actual situation is.”
Speaking on ARD television ahead his side’s DFB-Pokal defeat to Bayern, Klopp decided to make mischief over two of his opponents’ players.
“What I would like to know is where Arjen Robben and Mario Gomez will be playing next season,” he said. “I don’t think they are going to stick around there for another season, so that is going to be intriguing.”
