Corinthians lose stadium ban appeal
Corinthians will play the rest of their Copa Libertadores home games behind closed doors this season after the South American Football Confederation (Conmebol) rejected their appeal against the ban.
The current Copa holders were given the ban on February 21 after a boy was killed by a flare fired by a Corinthians fan during their Group Five match away to San Jose of Bolivia.
Conmebol's president of the appeals board decided to uphold the ban despite the Brazilian club's appeal, and their next match against Millonarios of Colombia on Wednesday will be the first to be played in front of an empty Pacaembu stadium.
Corinthians, who also hold the current title of World Club champions, sit second in their group after drawing with San Jose. They are five points behind Tijuana of Mexico, who have won both of their matches.
