Blackpool caretaker manager Steve Thompson has revealed that Paul Ince is set to be named as the Championship side's new manager on Monday.
Ince, 45, has been out of work since leaving Notts County in 2011 and his appointment at Bloomfield Road will see him take charge of his son, England Under-21 international Tom Ince.
"There's going to be an announcement on Monday. It's going to be Paul Ince. The deal is very close to being done," Thompson said after Blackpool's 1-0 league defeat to Ipswich, which left the Seasiders in 14th place.
Thompson has been in sole charge of the club since the departure of Michael Appleton to Blackburn on January 11 and he hopes to continue after the appointment of Ince.
"It's something I want to do," he added. "It's quite difficult stepping in as number two. As much as you try and do things right, you always know that this time next week you might have your arm round a new manager as his assistant.
"I'll just have to see what happens. I think Paul wants me to work with his team. I'll keep my head down and work as hard as I can for him, but further down the line, I want to be number one."
