Tottenham defender William Gallas has cast doubt on his future at White Hart Lane after manager Andre Villas-Boas said one of his central defenders will be leaving the club this summer.

Although Spurs are suffering from a lack of strikers, they are spoilt for choice at centre-back, where Gallas, Michael Dawson, Younes Kaboul, Jan Vertonghen and Steven Caulker vying for starts.

Villas-Boas believes five centre-halves is one too many and, speaking ahead of Tottenham's clash with Lyon in the Europa League, he said: "We started this season with five central defenders because of an injury to Younes Kaboul, but this is not normal.

"I can tell you that we will not be starting next season with five - it will be four."

And Gallas said that left him uncertain of what the future might hold, adding: "I don't know what will happen about my contract - I don't even think about it. Will I still be here next season? I don't know."

But he said that would not deflect him from Spurs' Europa League campaign, explaining: "Tottenham want to win the Europa League, and it's very important to have something to show at the end of the season."
