Catania defender Nicola Legrottaglie says he finds the idea of following former Juventus team-mate Alessandro Del Piero to Australia’s A-League enticing.
Legrottaglie is yet to be offered a contract to stay with Catania next season, despite helping the Rossazzurri into eighth position on the Serie A ladder.
Del Piero, who played with Legrottaglie at Juventus from 2003-2011, made his move to the A-League last year, and has starred with new club Sydney FC in a difficult campaign for the Sky Blues. Legrottaglie has declared that he will be pursuing a similar switch if Catania do not enter into negotiations with him soon.
"It would be a pleasure to play with Alex Del Piero," Legrottaglie told La Repubblica on Tuesday.
"I haven't spoken to the club yet. I am happy here and would never push to leave but if the club decides not to make me a proposal, then I would evaluate others, even if they were abroad.
"The idea of Australia fascinates me. Age does not matter, as I am in good shape and take it one year at a time."
The 36-year-old has earned 16 caps for Italy, and credits AC Milan, Siena and Chievo as some of his former clubs.
