Former AC Milan and Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko could make a playing return for Indonesian side Mitra Kukar.
Shevchenko, 36, retired from football after captaining Ukraine on home soil at Euro 2012 but reports suggest an offer of $100,000 per game to play in the Indonesia Super League are now tempting the former Champions League winner to temporarily reconsider.
Mitra Kukar manager Roni Fauzan confirmed his side’s interest, saying: “Obviously we're interested in Shevchenko, but we have to continue to discuss this question, particularly the financial aspects.”
Shevchenko is said to have caught the eye during a friendly for an AC Milan legends team against an ISL all-star side recently, but he is not keen on an extended comeback.
"Andriy has made clear that he is not against joining Mitra Kukar, but at the moment we don't know how much he'll be able to play,” Fauzan added.
"We'd like to invite Andrey for 10 games, but he apparently is happy to play no more than five times.
"If we do sign Sheva he'll only be able to play in the second half [of the championship] as the period for registering new players is closed.
"But to start with we have to discuss the budget for transfers with members of the club's board.”
