Italian media reported on Wednesday that negotiations over De Rossi, 29, unhappy with Zdenek Zeman being confirmed in his role as coach, had begun between representatives of PSG and the giallorossi.

However, speaking to French radio station RMC, the Italian club's sporting director, Walter Sabatini, refuted those claims as well as suggestions the Serie A side were poised to swoop for PSG's own Italian international midfielder, Marco Verratti.

"There's absolutely nothing between PSG and Roma for De Rossi. There's no meeting scheduled for him with Paris representatives," Sabatini said. "What's more, there's nothing planned for Verratti either."

Having allowed Mohamed Sissoko and Adrien Rabiot to go out on loan this month - to Fiorentina and Toulouse respectively - French media are reporting PSG are in the hunt for a midfielder.

The French capital club's sporting director, Leonardo, missed Wednesday's annual lunch with the Paris mayor sparking speculation he was conducting negotiations to that end. His absence was not explained by PSG.

The Brazilian, as well as coach Carlo Ancelotti and president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, have consistently maintained Brazilian international Lucas Moura would be their sole addition during the winter transfer window.
