Stoke City has agreed with FC Dallas on a transfer deal for American midfielder Brek Shea, soccerbyives.net reported Monday, citing anonymous sources.

The deal is pending a physical, according to the website.

FC Dallas issued a statement Monday night that said Shea is travelling to Europe on Monday but did not specify to which team.

"We have received interest from a number of European clubs regarding Brek Shea," the statement said. "Brek is traveling there this evening and as a result, he will not be in attendance at training tomorrow. Currently, there is no deal in place with any club and we have no further details at this time."

Stoke manager Tony Pulis expressed his interest in Shea, 22, last week, but a potential move stalled while Stoke negotiated with MLS on a $3 million deal.

"I can't see him coming now," Pulis said last Wednesday. "We'll see what the future brings."

A Texas native, Shea has scored 19 goals for Dallas in five seasons with the club. He has been a fixture in the U.S. squad under Jurgen Klinsmann.

Stoke already employs American defender Geoff Cameron and has loaned Maurice Edu to Bursaspor in Turkey.
