Zaha, 20, has been strongly linked with a January move to the Premier League, with United and Arsenal mooted as interested parties.
Speaking on Tuesday, though, Wenger said his side were "never" in for the youngster, paving the way for the Red Devils to tie up a deal.
It has since emerged that the forward, who has one England cap to his name, has agreed a five-and-a-half-year contract at Old Trafford but will be loaned back to Palace for the remainder of the season.
United are likely to pay £10 million up front for his services, with the fee potentially rising to £15 million depending on performance-related bonuses.
