Bayern Munich have rejected rumours about a done deal with Pep Guardiola to take over as manager in the summer as "nonsense".

Sky Italia reported late on Monday that the former Barcelona boss is set to succeed Bayern manager Jupp Heynckes at the end of the season.

German media instantly latched onto the rumour, connecting it to recent reports that Heynckes is to discuss his future with the Munich club within the next few days.

Bayern refused to comment on the matter on Tuesday, however, the club's press officer Markus Horwick soon revealed that the story was "nonsense".

"Jupp Heynckes is our first and only go-to guy," he added.

Reports in German media had claimed that Guardiola's agent, Josep Maria Orobitg, had been spotted in Munich recently.

Orobitg, though, has since disputed this claim, telling Bild: "I have not been in Munich. I was in Frankfurt on a pleasure steamer."

Horwick's public backing of Heynckes follows on from Bayern general manager Matthias Sammer's glowing praise of the coach during the club's winter training camp.

"We have a fantastic coach," he said. "The decision will be that this stays as our super solution or we will create a new super solution."
