The €42 million summer signing from AC Milan, 28, hobbled off shortly before the hour mark during PSG's 0-0 draw at home to Ajaccio on Friday night.
A statement on the club's official website said an MRI scan on Monday had revealed the full extent of the problem, which means the stylish defender will miss upcoming Ligue 1 fixtures against Bordeaux, Lille and Toulouse as well as the Coupe de France tie with the latter on January 23.
Silva should return for the visit of Bastia to the Parc des Princes on February 8, just four days before Carlo Ancelotti's men go to Valencia for the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie.
In his absence, France international Mamadou Sakho will partner ex-Chelsea man Alex at the heart of the Parisian defence.
