Abete re-elected as Italian FA president

Giancarlo Abete has been re-elected to his position as the president of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC).

According to the official FIGC website, Abete - who was the only candidate in the contest - received 256 votes with 32 people abstaining from the process. That equates to almost a 95% majority of the overall votes cast.
Abete, now 62 years of age, has been in office since April 2007 and will hold this post until 2017. At the meeting held on Monday at the Rome Marriott Park Hotel, the assembly also voted to confirm Guiliani Genchi of the board of auditors.
Genchi again receiving an identical share of the votes with 95% in his favour and 32 abstaining.
