Szalai talk played down
Arsenal, Wolfsburg and Borussia Dortmund’s attempts to sign Adam Szalai have been played down by Mainz general manager Christian Heidel.

Bild has reported that the trio are all interested in Szalai, 25, the 2012 Hungarian Footballer of the Year who has become a key figure since recovering from a cruciate ligament injury early in 2012.
Arsenal are said to lead the way, and are keen on a move for the forward during the January transfer window, with Bundesliga sides Dortmund and Wolfsburg interested in a deal which will see Szalai move in the summer.
Heidel is quoted by Bild as saying; “If somebody comes and bids €20 million…” but further quotes in Allgemeine Zeitung Mainz, appear to rubbish the rumours. “We have not been in contact with any club,” he said. “And we have no interest [to sell the player], not even for €20 million.”
Szalai is unaware of interest, telling Bild: “I know of nothing.”
Mainz, currently sixth in the Bundesliga standing have scored 24 goals during the first half of the season with Szalai, who is contracted until 2015, scoring nine and setting up a further two of them.
