Wantaway QPR midfielder Adel Taarabt has revealed that his agent is in talks with Milan, but admitted he would only use a move to the San Siro as a stepping stone to Barcelona or Real Madrid.

Taarabt, 23, has been angling for a January move away from Loftus Road, despite impressing amid a poor start to the season, and claimed earlier this month that Barcelona and Russian side Anzhi were tracking him.

Now, however, the Moroccan has turned his attentions to Serie A and AC Milan - who will be looking for a new midfielder if they decide to sell Robinho and fail to land PSG’s Javier Pastore - and is already in talks over a move.

“I would only refuse offers from the big English clubs, if Milan made me an offer,” Taarabt told Gazzetta dello Sport. “My agent is in talks with [Milan vice-president Adriano] Galliani, but it depends on what happens with Robinho and Pastore.”

In a move that is unlikely to impress the Milan fans, Taarabt then claimed that a transfer to the San Siro would only be a stepping stone in order to get himself noticed by the real powerhouses of world football.

“Milan aren’t going through a glorious period now, and they’re no longer a part of the top clubs,” said Taarabt. “However, if I joined Milan then it would open up the doors for me to great clubs like Real Madrid and Barca.

“My friend [Kevin Prince] Boateng is also at Milan. When we were at Tottenham he was often in the stands, so I think that I have a chance too.”
