The Rossoneri eventually won 3-0 and advance to a quarter-final tie with Juventus but the coach was far from happy with his side's display.

"It was a terrible first half from us and we were unable to take our chances," he told RAI. "I have to compliment Reggina who put in a fine performance and made it difficult for us."

Meanwhile, relegation-threatened Serie B club Reggina are more concerned with improving their league form according coach Davide Dionigi.

He said: "We played a good game, even if some incidents would need to be seen again. I didn't use some first choice players because the Serie B tournament is too tight for us to get away with it."

"We are in a delicate situation and need to get out of it as soon as possible."
