Fiorentina have been hit by another injury blow after learning that they could be without Adem Ljajic for up to three weeks after he suffered a thigh strain.

The club, already missing captain Stevan Jovetic and fellow striker Luca Toni, released a statement on Wednesday in which they confirmed Ljajic had suffered a lesion to his thigh muscle during a training session.

It said medical staff believed the injury would rule Serbia international Ljajic out for between 15 and 20 days.

The Viola still had enough to see off Serie B side Juve Stabia in the Coppa Italia but, with Jovetic struggling and Toni resting after suffering concussion at the weekend, coach Vincenzo Montella is short of options as they prepare to face Sampdoria on Sunday.
