Anzhi Makhachkala have denied claims they would make a move for Wesley Sneijder should the midfielder leave Inter Milan.

The Russian club had been consistently linked with the Netherlands international over the past year and the move once again became widely discussed as the Nerazzurri have left him out of the team amid reports of a contract wrangle.

Yet Anzhi director general Ayvaz Kaziakhmedov made it quite clear that Anzhi are not tracking the midfielder as he outlined the club's transfer policies.

"There is a lot of talk about Sneijder, but I can guarantee he is not on the list of players who interest us," he told "The club strategy does not allow for random buys. It all depends on the budget and the objectives we decide along with the coach."

"We want to build an important squad but that doesn't mean we can only do it with headline-grabbing names, signings have to be thought out. However, I won't rule out surprises in the transfer window."

The presence of Dutch coach Guus Hiddink at Anzhi has been routinely cited as a factor in Sneijder's potential move to the Russian Premier League club, but following the 66-year-old's announcement that he will quit management at the end of the current season that will no longer be the case.
