Sir Alex Ferguson celebrated the 26th anniversary of his appointment at Manchester United by being named Manager of the Month for a record 27th time.
Ferguson led his team to three victories in as many Premier League games in October, including a 3-2 win at Chelsea, whose Juan Mata won the Player of the Month award.
United scored 10 goals in their three October league games, also defeating Newcastle and Stoke, and won both their Champions League fixtures.
And Ferguson, who moved to United from Aberdeen in 1986, said: "We've got a great set-up here, I've got great staff, and the players of course - they are the reason I'm getting this award. There is no question about that, so I am very pleased."
Mata was named Player of the Month for the first time after scoring three goals and creating another three in three games to help Chelsea's title challenge.
The Spaniard struck twice and recorded an assist in the 4-2 White Hart Lane victory over Tottenham on October 20 and was on the scoresheet again when United visited Stamford Bridge.
He said: "My main job is to assist not to score, but of course the best feeling if you are a football player is scoring goals, so this month has been very good for me."
Everton's David Moyes had won September's Manager of the Month award while the player recognised was another Scot, Sunderland striker Steven Fletcher.
